It is important to understand how the massage chair parts work so that you can give your clients the very best massage possible.

First of all, if you are new to massage therapy, you may not be familiar with chair massage or a massage chair. You must admit a massage chair is a funny-looking contraption. Your new clients will think so, too.

Before you buy a massage chair and start giving chair massage, make sure that you take some chair massage classes. Chair massage is a completely different ball of wax than giving a table massage. In some states, you learn many types of massage in school. In Texas, you learn Swedish table massage and that is it during the basic 500 hour course. So when I finished school, I could do a very good Swedish table massage. But that was all.

So I took some classes on chair massage and learned techniques far different than in my basic massage class.

One of the first things I learned is how to properly get on a massage chair. It is important that if your client has never before had a chair massage, to let him/her know how to get onto the chair so he/she does not get injured.
